               If               your               Thanksgiving               plans               will               take               you               outside               the               U.S.,               or               if               you               want               to               make               a               special               trip               to               an               international               destination               for               Thanksgiving,               here               are               my               top               four               choices               for               places               to               enjoy               a               traditional               American               Thanksgiving               dinner               around               the               world:
Harry's               New               York               Bar,               Paris,               France
               This               year               is               the               100th               anniversary               of               when               American               jockey               Tod               Sloan               first               opened               the               place               and               hired               a               Scot               named               Harry               MacElhone               as               bartender.

It               became               a               favorite               of               American               soldiers               both               in               World               War               I               and               II.

In               the               Roaring               20s,               Harry's               customers               included               F.

Scott               Fitzgerald,               Ernest               Heminghway,               Jack               Dempsey,               Knute               Rockne               and               many               of               the               Hollywood               stars               of               the               era.

Continuing               to               cater               to               its               American               ex-patriots               in               Paris,               Harry's               lays               out               an               annual               Thanksgiving               feast               of               the               traditional               bourbon               roast               turkey,               yams,               cranberries,               pecan               pie               and               all               the               trimmings.

               We               were               there               two               years               ago               on               a               tour               of               the               capital               city               and               the               Great               Wall               of               China.

This               quaint               restaurant               is               set               in               a               fruit               and               vegetable               patch               surrounded               by               apple               trees.

Many               of               the               dishes               contain               just-picked               fresh               ingredients               from               the               gardens.
               We               enjoyed               the               menu,               which               offered               both               traditional               Chinese               specialties               and               Mediterranean               dishes.

The               manager               is               from               Israel,               and               the               chef               is               a               local               expert               named               He               Delee.

With               that               management               combination,               visitors               from               many               parts               of               the               world               can               find               a               great               variety               of               favorite               dishes               at               The               Orchard.

As               a               convenience               to               American               tourists               and               business               travelers               at               this               season,               The               Orchard               offers               a               traditional               Thanksgiving               dinner.

The               dishes               include               roast               turkey,               stuffing               and               all               classic               trimmings               for               $32               per               person.

               Beacon               is               a               hip,               upscale               chop               house               in               the               heart               of               Tokyo's               Shibuya               district.

The               restaurant               is               well-known               for               the               their               great               food               and               fun               atmosphere,               but               also               for               their               yearly               Thanksgiving               dinner,               served               this               year               only               on               Thursday,               November               24.
               Dinner               starts               with               fresh               Atlantic               lobster               chowder               with               shiitake               mushrooms.

Then               roasted               beets,               goat               cheese               and               crispy               duck               bacon               salad               with               hazelnut               dressing.

Next               up               is               roast               turkey               with               apple,               chestnut               and               sausage               stuffing,               cranberry               and               persimmon               relish.

If               all               that               wasn't               enough,               they               also               include               sides               of               sauteed               brussel               sprouts               with               pancetta,               creamed               cauliflower               and               pearl               onion               gratin,               whipped               canided               yam               puree               and               toasted               pecans.

Dessert               is               spiced               pumpkin               cheesecake               with               pumpkin               gelato.

The               price               is               $109               per               person               and               it's               served               from               5:30               p.m.

to               10               p.m.

This               is               very               popular               with               ex-pats               in               Tokyo               so               be               sure               to               make               reservations               as               soon               as               possible.

               We               were               in               London               last               year               over               the               Christmas               holiday,               and               when               we               asked               around               for               the               best               place               serving               American               food,               we               were               advised               to               head               over               to               Planet               Hollywood.

If               you're               in               London               for               Thanksgiving               this               year,               and               really               feel               the               need               for               an               American               meal               for               the               holiday,               swing               by               Piccadilly               Circus               to               Planet               Hollywood.

This               trendy               cafe               and               bar               is               serving               a               traditional               Thanksgiving               menu               of               turkey               with               all               the               trimmings.
               Also,               if               you               plan               to               take               in               a               play               or               musical               after               dinner,               you'll               find               the               West               End               theater               district               just               steps               away.

    The               duffel               bag               is               made               out               of               sturdy               twill               fabric,               has               lots               of               pockets               with               zip               or               magnetic               closures               and               is               lined.

    It               is               also               very               well               made.

    I               intend               to               use               mine               as               an               overnight               bag               or               as               a               gym-bag               for               yoga               class.

    Just               looking               at               it               gives               me               a               cheerful               feeling               of               well-being,               so               I               figure               I               am               already               halfway               there.

    I               have               the               Dunclare               black               and               white               floral               pattern               and               I               adore               it-               not               just               because               it's               fabulous,               but               because               the               lid               fits               so               well               that               it               does               not               rattle.

    The               Liberty               of               London               for               Target               teapot               costs               $12.99               and               I               own               teapots               for               twice               the               price               that               threaten               to               send               their               lids               crashing               into               your               tea               party               every               single               time               I               pour.

    If               that's               not               a               bargain,               I               don't               know               what               is.

                   Unfortunately,               most               of               the               adult               clothing               by               Liberty               of               London               for               Target               is               made               of               polyester,               but               when               it               comes               to               kiddie               fashion               they               stick               to               cotton.

    Target's               Liberty               print               children's               clothes               make               you               want               to               get               out               there               and               breed.

    I               bought               this               Liberty               of               London               for               Target               romper               and               matching               hat               for               my               niece               for               Easter:               it               is               lined,               very               well               made               and               absolutely               adorable.

    I               will               have               to               get               back               to               you               on               whether               my               niece               loves               it               as               much               as               I               do,               but               I               am               positive               her               mother               will.
                   Liberty               of               London               for               Target:               Scarf               or               pareo               and               matching               floral               print               hat.
                   You               can               buy               two               different               kinds               of               Liberty               of               London               for               Target               scarves.

    The               first               is               three               strips               of               different               patterned               cotton               sewn               together               lengthwise.

    It               looks               like               they               were               trying               to               use               up               leftover               scraps               of               material,               which               is               fine               at               $14.99,               but               quite               frankly               the               ones               I               saw               were               not               made               very               well.

    You               can               do               better.

    Look               for               one               of               the               Liberty               of               London               for               Target               scarves               with               tassels:               they               are               big               enough               to               be               used               as               a               shawl               or               pareo,               too.

    The               material               is               the               midweight               cotton               that               I               love               because               it               will               just               get               softer               and               more               lovely               every               time               I               wash               it.

    Pair               your               new               Liberty               of               London               for               Target               scarf/pareo               with               a               matching               Liberty               of               London               for               Target               bucket               hat               (I               chose               a               floppy               sunhat)               and               you               will               be               all               set               for               Summer.
                   Liberty               of               London               for               Target:               Rain               boots
                   The               Liberty               of               London               for               Target               rain               boots               printed               with               Liberty               of               London's               iconic               poppy               print               are               divine.

    These               wellies               make               me               long               for               rainy               days,               but               they               did               not               have               any               left               in               my               size.

    Maybe               you               will               have               better               luck.

                   All               the               Liberty               print               stationery               sets               at               Target               are               to-die-for.

    (The               pencil               in               this               set               is               really               a               ballpoint.)               The               mini-journals               by               Liberty               of               London               for               Target               are               packaged               three               to               a               set.

    Each               small               notebook               has               lined               paper               and               a               different               Liberty               of               London               print.

    They               have               a               soft               cover               much               like               a               trade               paperback               and               should               fare               well               as               a               notebook               for               your               handbag               or               backpack.

    At               $6.99               a               set,               Target               has               outdone               itself.

    The               Liberty               of               London               for               Target               mini-journals               are               not               only               fabulous,               they               offer               an               amazing               value.

    Many               people               will               attempt               to               try               a               wide               range               of               methods               for               losing               weight.

    Diets               are               probably               the               most               popular               of               these               methods.

    Although               it               is               commonly               known               that               exercise               is               one               of               the               best               ways               to               lose               weight               not               many               people               will               actually               use               this               method               in               their               weigh               management               regimens.

    There               are               many               different               types               of               exercises.

    Anaerobic               exercise               is               used               by               those               who               already               work-out.

    Anaerobic               exercises               are               a               little               more               rigorous               and               most               anaerobic               exercises               should               be               used               with               the               help               of               a               personal               trainer.

    Anaerobic               exercise               is               the               opposite               of               aerobic               exercise.

    Anaerobic,               meaning               "without               oxygen,"               is               the               opposite               of               aerobic               exercise.

    Where               aerobic               exercises               are               low               intensity               for               a               long               duration               of               time,               anaerobic               exercises               comprise               of               activities               that               are               high               intensity               for               a               shorter               period               of               time.

    This               type               of               exercise               uses               energy               that               is               stored               in               the               muscles               of               the               body               rather               than               from               carbohydrates               or               fatty               acids.

    During               anaerobic               exercise               the               muscles               causing               muscle               fatigue               create               a               by-product,               known               as               lactic               acid.

    Although               a               person               can               suffer               the               discomfort               of               muscle               aches               and               pains,               the               advantage               of               having               lactic               acid               build               up               in               the               muscles               is               that               the               body               learns               to               rid               itself               of               these               wastes.

    The               body               must               also               recover               from               this               build               up               of               lactic               acid               before               the               muscles               can               function               at               their               full               potential               again.

    Because               of               this               necessary               recovery               time               anaerobic               exercises               only               last               for               short               periods               of               time.
                   Many               professional               trainers               will               use               what               is               known               as               "interval               training"               in               their               exercise               routines.

    In               interval               training               an               anaerobic               exercise,               such               as               weight               lifting,               is               implemented               for               a               short               period               of               time               followed               by               an               aerobic               exercise,               such               as               jogging,               for               a               longer               period               of               time.

    This               is               to               allow               the               body               to               recover               from               build               up               of               lactic               acid               in               the               muscles               and               replace               it               with               oxygen.

    Trainers               also               recommend               using               an               aerobic               exercise               as               a               warm-up               before               attempting               harder               and               more               rigorous               exercises.

    Some               form               of               aerobic               exercise               should               also               be               done               after               an               anaerobic               workout               to               help               the               body               return               to               its               natural               state               of               balance.
                   Whereas               aerobic               exercise               is               good               for               cardiovascular               health,               anaerobic               exercise               is               good               for               building               muscular               fitness.

    It               strengthens               the               muscles               and               builds               muscle               mass               in               the               body.

    It               burns               less               calories               than               aerobic               exercise               but               because               there               is               an               increase               in               muscle               mass               it               can               help               one               to               be               leaner               and               control               their               weight               better.

    It               should               be               noted               that               anaerobic               exercising               is               not               recommended               for               women               that               are               pregnant               as               lactic               acid               build               up               and               muscle               fatigue               can               be               harmful               to               the               unborn               baby.

    Some               examples               of               anaerobic               exercise               include               weight               lifting,               sprinting,               and               downhill               skiing.
                   Weight               Lifting               
                   
                   Weight               lifting,               also               referred               to               as               strength               training,               is               one               of               the               most               popular               forms               of               anaerobic               exercise.

    Although               weight               lifting               is               more               frequently               used               to               build               muscle               mass               it               can               also               be               used               to               help               a               person               lose               weight               by               choosing               a               variety               of               repetitions               that               target               specific               muscle               groups.

    Your               body               learns               to               adapt               as               you               make               changes               in               your               exercise               routine               and               because               of               this,               it               is               necessary               to               use               more               resistance               than               your               body               is               used               to               in               order               to               build               muscle               mass               and               lose               weight.

    As               you               lift               weights               your               body               will               get               used               to               the               sets               and               repetitions               you               are               using               and               your               workout               will               become               ineffective               and               unproductive.

    By               changing               your               sets               and               repetitions               on               a               weekly,               or               even               a               monthly,               basis               will               help               you               to               increase               the               intensity               of               your               exercise               routine.
                   It               is               essential               to               rest               your               muscles               between               your               workout               sessions.

    Because               your               muscles               adjust               and               grow               during               these               resting               periods               trainers               recommend               that               you               don't               work               the               same               muscle               groups               every               day.

    It               is               also               important               to               remember               that               an               aerobic               exercise               or               a               stretching               exercise               should               be               utilized               as               a               warm               up               before               you               jump               into               an               anaerobic               workout.

    This               helps               your               body               to               prepare               itself               for               a               more               intense               workout               and               because               your               muscles               have               been               stretched               out               it               will               also               prevent               any               injuries               that               you               could               incur               while               lifting               heavy               weights.

    The               benefits               of               weight               lifting               include               an               increase               in               muscular               stamina,               improved               equilibrium               (balance),               and               stronger               bones.

    Lifting               weights               also               elevates               your               metabolism,               helping               to               burn               more               calories.


                   
    Sprinting               
                   
                   Most               people               do               not               know               that               there               is               difference               between               sprinting,               running,               and               jogging.

    Jogging               is               done               at               a               steady               pace               whereas               running               is               performed               somewhat               faster               and               also               produces               an               increase               in               heart               rate.

    Sprinting               is               the               fastest               type               of               running               and               is               done               in               a               short               amount               of               time.

    In               sprinting               the               strides               are               longer               and               a               person               runs               as               fast               as               they               can               for               the               whole               distance.

    Sprinting               is               an               excellent               way               to               burn               calories               as               it               boosts               your               metabolism               and               has               the               ability               to               keep               it               at               this               accelerated               rate               for               days               after               a               workout               where               sprinting               is               employed.

    It               is               also               in               helpful               in               toning               the               muscles               of               your               arms               and               legs               and               only               has               to               be               added               to               your               workout               routine               about               twice               a               week               in               order               to               reap               its               benefits.


                   
    Downhill               Skiing               
                   
                   Downhill               skiing,               also               known               as               Alpine               skiing,               is               very               beneficial               in               helping               one               to               improve               coordination               and               balance.

    This               type               of               skiing               is               a               rigorous               activity               that               works               the               upper               part               of               your               legs               (the               muscle               groups               that               support               your               knees).

    It               also               helps               to               strengthen               the               hips,               back,               and               glutei               (buttock)               muscles.

    More               muscle               groups               are               used               in               skiing               than               in               running               and               the               amount               of               energy               required               to               perform               this               activity               is               also               higher.

    The               potential               for               increasing               your               metabolism               and               burning               a               lot               of               calories               in               a               shorter               period               of               time               is               excellent               with               downhill               skiing.

    Because               this               type               of               skiing               requires               so               much               energy               it               is               a               good               idea               to               do               some               cardiovascular               training               and               strength               training               to               prepare               you               before               attempting               to               add               downhill               skiing               to               your               regular               exercise               routine.
